23. Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple
One famous Shiva ka mandir, Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple is located in the Kottayam district and is extremely popular among tourists for its murals. The most famous is Nataraja’s painting (depiction of Lord Shiva as the cosmic dancer) in the gopuram (ornate temple tower). 24. Vaikom Mahadeva Temple
Vaikom in the Kottayam district of the southern state of India, Kerala, is one of the main pilgrim centres of the south. Famous for the Vaikkath Ashtami celebrations in November/December, it is one of the few temples held in reverence by both Shaivites and the Vaishnavaites. Vaikkom’s Shiva is fondly called Vaikkathappan.
