Itinerary
Day 1: Delhi
Welcome to India. On arrival, you are received and transferred to your hotel. Hotel check-in time is 12 noon. Many dynasties and rulers have flourished on Delhi’s regal soil over the last 3000 years. The legacy still survives in many monuments you visit this afternoon. Visit Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial Raj Ghat, the 72 m high Persian-styled tower Qutab Minar and Emperor Humayun’s Mausoleum. Drive past the Red Fort, the Jama Mosque, the ceremonial Rajpath avenue, the imposing India Gate, the Parliament House and the Presidential Estate. Overnight in Delhi.
Day 2: Delhi / Kanota
Drive from Delhi to Kanota (270 kms/6 hours). Upon arrival check-in to hotel.Spread over 8 acres of land, Castle Kanota is truly a magnificent experience. Built in 1872, the Castle is located just 15 km east of Jaipur on the Jaipur-Agra Highway and is now a heritage hotel. Day 3: Kanota / Bundi / Kota
After breakfast, you drive from Kanota to Kota (210 kms/6 hours) en route visitingBundi. Located just 39 kms north-west of the Kota in Rajasthan, Bundi is a fairy tale city caught in a time warp. The town?s Rajput legacy is well preserved in the massive Taragarh Fort, built in 1354 and located on a hill. The fort is home to the legendary 12th century Bundi murals. Also visit the Chatter Mahal Palace The town is also home to the World famous Chitrashala and Chattarmahal murals of Radha-Krishna and other exquisite wall paintings.
Upon arrival at Kota, check-in to your hotel. Your afternoon tour of Kota begins at the City Palace and Fort. Standing beside the Kota barrage, overlooking the Chambal River, the City Palace and Fort is one of the largest such complexes in Rajasthan. The Darbar Hall has mirror work, ebony and ivory inlaid doors and contains a wealth of Rajput miniatures of the Kota School. Visit the Rao Madho Singh Museum, in the City Palace, displaying weapons, clothing and some of the best preserved murals in the state. Other attractions include the Jagmandir, which is the picturesque artificial tank of Kishore Sagar, constructed in 1346 between the City Palace and the Tourist Bungalow. Also visit the Brij Vilas Palace Museum, near the Kishore Sagar, which has a collection of stone idols and other such fragments. Overnight in Kota.
Day 4: Kota / Bijaipur
Post breakfast, drive from Kota to Bijaipur (140 kms/4 hours). Upon arrival check-in to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to enjoy the scenic beauty. Overnight in Bijaipur.
Day 5: Bijaipur / Chittorgarh / Dungarpur
This morning you drive from Bijaipur to Dungarpur (240 kms/5 hours) en route visiting Chittorgarh. Upon arrival check-in to your hotel. Overnight in Dungarpur.
Day 6: Dungarpur / Udaipur
Drive from Dungarpur to Udaipur (135 kms/4 hours). Upon arrival check-in to your hotel. In the afternoon, proceed for a sightseeing tour of Udaipur visiting the beautiful City Palace, the lovely Sahelion-ki-bari gardens, the Jagdish temple and the local Museum. In the evening, enjoy a motor launch cruise on the placid waters of Lake Pichola. Overnight in Udaipur.
Day 7: Udaipur / Ranakpur / Deogarh
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before driving from Udaipur to Deogarh (135 kms/4 hours) en route visiting Ranakpur, located some 90 kms from Udaipur. Visit the famous Jain Temples, dating back to the 15th century, with its intricate friezes and sculptures. Continue your drive to Deogarh and upon arrival check in to your hotel. Visit Deogarh village this afternoon. Overnight in Deogarh.
Day 8: Deogarh / Luni
Drive from Deogarh to Luni (145 kms/4 hours). Upon arrival check in to your hotel. In the afternoon, set off on a jeep safari to visit a Bishnoi village and witness the simple, yet colorful life of the Rajasthani people. Thatched huts, intricate temples, men in colorful turbans and women clad in bright outfits liven up these desert villages. Overnight in Luni.
Day 9: Luni / Jodhpur / Pushkar
Drive from Luni to Pushkar (240 kms/6 hours) en route visiting Jodhpur. Visit the Mehrangarh Fort, a formidable hilltop fort. Inside the fort, visit the palaces Moti Mahal, the Sukh Mahal and the Phool Mahal. Continue the tour to visit the Jaswant Thada, a marble cenotaph built in 1899 as a memorial to Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. Continue drive to Pushkar and upon arrival check in to your hotel. Overnight in Pushkar.
Day 10: Pushkar / Jaipur
Visit Pushkar Lake and later drive to Jaipur (150 kms/3 hours). On arrival, check in to your hotel. In the afternoon, proceed for a Jaipur city tour visiting the unique Jantar Mantar stone observatory built by Raja Jai Singh in 1728, and the opulent City Palace with its museums displaying an excellent collection of miniature paintings, costumes and armory. Drive past the intriguing Hawa Mahal or Palace of Winds which was really a facade built in 1799, to allow royal ladies to view the city from the windows. Overnight in Jaipur.
Day 11: Jaipur / Bharatpur
Proceed for an excursion to Amber Fort, located 12 kms outside Jaipur. Enjoy the ascent to the Palace on the back of a brightly caparisoned elephant. Visit the multiple chambers and hallways of the palace which are famous for their design and decorations. Later drive from Jaipur to Bharatpur (180 kms/4 hours). Upon arrival check-in to your hotel. The afternoon is set aside for bird watching in the park. Overnight in Bharatpur.
Day 12: Bharatpur / Agra / Delhi
Drive from Bharatpur to Agra (56 kms/2 hours) en route visiting Fatehpur Sikri. This deserted, red sandstone city, built by Emperor Akbar between 1570 and 1585, was once the capital of the Moghul Empire for a short period but later abandoned due to scarcity of water. Here you will visit the Bulund Darwaza (The Gate of Victory) and the white marble tomb of the Sufi saint Shaik Salim Chishti.
Continue your drive to Agra and upon arrival visit Taj Mahal (closed on Fridays), an extravagant marble monument of love, built by Shah Jahan in 1653 as a memorial to his queen Mumtaz Mahal. Continue your tour to the Agra Fort, the original red sandstone fort built by Moghul Emperor Akbar in 1565. Later drive to Delhi (203 kms/4 hours) and upon arrival check-in to your hotel. Overnight in Agra.
Day 13: Depart Delhi
You are transferred from hotel to the airport in time for your onward flight.
