Itinerary

Day 1: Delhi

On arrival at New Delhi airport, you are met and transferred to your hotel. The hotel check-in time is 12 noon. Delhi, the capital of modern India, has seen the reign of many dynasties and rulers over the last 3000 years. Set off on an afternoon sightseeing tour of New Delhi beginning with a drive past Safdarjang’s Tomb while en route to the Qutab Minar. Continue your tour to visit Humayun’s Tomb. Later drive through the Embassy area, Diplomatic enclave, the India Gate and the Presidential Estate (formerly Viceroy’s House) and Connaught Place, New Delhi’s main shopping area. Overnight in New Delhi.

 

Day 2: Delhi

Embark on a morning sightseeing tour of Old Delhi. Begin with a visit to the Jama Mosque  built in 1650 AD. This is followed by a drive past the Red Fort (closed on Mondays) built by Emperor Shah Jahan, creator of the Taj Mahal. Later proceed to Raj Ghat – the site of the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight in New Delhi.

 

Day 3: Delhi / Sikandra / Agra

Drive to Agra (200 kms/5 hours) en route visiting Sikandra, which is home to the mausoleum of Emperor Akbar that lies at the centre of a huge garden, enclosed by high walls. Upon arrival at Agra, check-in at your hotel. The rest of the day is leisure. Overnight in Agra.

 

Day 4: Agra

Proceed for a city tour where you will experience the TAJ MAHAL (closed on Fridays). One of the Seven Wonders of the World, this beautiful mausoleum in pure white marble took 22 years and 22000 craftsmen to build. Continue your tour to the Agra Fort, the original red sandstone fort built by Moghul Emperor Akbar in 1565. The afternoon is at leisure. Overnight in Agra.

 

Day 5: Agra / Jaipur

This morning you drive from Agra to Jaipur (221 kms/6 hours). En route visit Fatehpur Sikri & Bharatpur. Fatehpur Sikri is a deserted, red sandstone city, built by Emperor Akbar between 1570 and 1585. Bharatpur, also called the Keoladeo Ghana Bird Sanctuary, is located about 55 kms from Agra and is home to over 353 bird species, the most famous being the endangered Siberian Cranes which migrate to this sanctuary during the winter season. The sanctuary is also home to animals such as Chital, Black Buck, Deer, Pythons and other reptiles in its 29 sq kms expanse. Continue your drive to Jaipur and upon arrival check-in at your hotel. Overnight in Jaipur.

 

Day 6: Jaipur

Proceed for an excursion to Amer Fort making a grand entry on the back of a brightly caparisoned elephant. In the afternoon, proceed on a city tour visiting the unique Jantar Mantar, the opulent City Palace and driving past the intriguing Hawa Mahal. Overnight in Jaipur.

 

Day 7: Jaipur / Delhi

The morning is free for shopping or for spending at leisure in Jaipur. A vehicle will be available at your disposal. In the afternoon, drive (258kms / 6hours) to the International Airport in Delhi in time to board your onward flight.

 

You have the option of adding to the above program with the following tours:

Extension tour to Ranthambore National Park (2nights / 3days) or/and

Extension Tour to Udaipur (2nights / 3days) or/and

Extension Tour to Jodhpur (2nights / 3days)

Day 07: Jaipur / Ranthambore

Drive from Jaipur to Ranthambore (156 kms/4 hours). On arrival, check-in at  your hotel. The afternoon is earmarked for game viewing at the Ranthambore Wildlife Sanctuary which covers an area of 392 sq kms of thick forests. One can spot predators like the Tiger and Leopard and other carnivorous animals like the Hyena, Jackal and Sloth Beer. The sanctuary also abounds in Wild Boar and various varieties of deer like Spotted Deer, Sambhar, Chinkara and Nilgai. The common Langaur (monkey) abound in the trees. Overnight in Ranthambore.

 

Day 08: Ranthambore

Proceed on early morning and afternoon game viewing in the park. Overnight in Ranthambore.

 

Day 09: Ranthambore (Swaimadhopur) / Delhi

Post breakfast, you are transferred from your hotel to the Swaimadhopur Railway Station to board your train to Delhi. You are meeting and assisted at the Delhi Railway Station and transferred to the airport in time to board your flight for your onward destination.

 

Extension Tour to Udaipur (2nights / 3days)

Day 07: Jaipur / Udaipur

Drive from Jaipur to Udaipur (410 kms/7 hours) or travel by train from Jaipur to Udaipur. The romantic city of Udaipur, located in the lap of the thickly wooded Aravali Hills, was founded in 1568 by Maharana Udai Singh. This elegant city is often referred to as the Venice of the East.

Upon arrival, check in your hotel. Overnight in Udaipur.

 

Day 08: Udaipur

Begin your sightseeing tour of Udaipur with a visit to the City Palace. At this Palace complex, marvel at the rooms with mirrored walls and ivory doors, windows with colored glass, inlaid marble balconies and the peacock courtyard. Also visit the lovely Sahelion-ki-bari gardens, the Jagdish temple and the local Museum.

In the afternoon, enjoy a motor launch cruise on the placid waters of Lake Pichola. From the boat, view the city of Udaipur as it rises majestically above the lake in the middle of the Rajasthan desert. You can also visit the Jag Mandir Palace which is a lovely island palace in the middle of the lake. Overnight in Udaipur.

 

Day 09: Udaipur / Delhi

You are transferred from your hotel to the airport in time for your flight to Delhi from where you board your flight to your onward destination.

Extension Tour to Jodhpur (2nights / 3days)

Day 07: Jaipur / Jodhpur

Drive from Jaipur to Jodhpur (330 kms/6 hours). Founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha, Jodhpur was the capital of the state of the Marwars during the rule of the Rathor clan. Set right at the edge of Thar Desert, the city is strewn with forts and palaces that go back to the 15th century. Upon arrival, check-in at your hotel. Overnight in Jodhpur.

 

Day 08: Jodhpur 

Proceed for a sightseeing tour of Jodhpur. Begin at the formidable, hilltop Mehrangarh Fort with its series of entrance gates like Jayapol built by Maharaja Man Singh in 1806, Fatehpol erected by Maharaja Ajit Singh to celebrate his victory over the Mughals, the main Lahapol which has besides it 15 hand prints or Sati Marks of Maharaja Man Singh’s widows who threw themselves upon his funeral pyre in 1843. Inside the fort, visit the palaces Moti Mahal or Pearl Palace, the Sukh Mahal or Pleasure Palace and the Phool Mahal or Flower Palace. Continue the tour to visit the Jaswant Thada, a marble cenotaph built in 1899 as a memorial to Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. The afternoon is at leisure. Overnight in Jodhpur.

 

Day 09: Jodhpur / Delhi

You are transferred from your hotel to the airport in time for your flight to Delhi from where you board your flight for your onward destination.
